I attended a week-long professional meeting in Boston many years ago. Chocoholic took vacation and went with me. It was a lovely trip, steeped in history. I love old things and old places and the history of our great nation, and Boston certainly met expectations.
We took a couple of bus tours on the weekend. While I attended meetings, Chocoholic toured the city, riding the MTA. When I had time off from meetings, we assembled some of my female friends, and Chocoholic led us on tours via the MTA… budget tourism.
One night, we all had dinner at Durgin Park, a very old restaurant where Benjamin Franklin dined back in revolutionary days. We splurged on Prime Rib that draped well over the plate. Yummy. Apparently because we were mostly a table full of young ladies, other parties… mostly men… took notice. One especially large gathering was made up of judges from all over America. To our vast delight, they serenaded us with a song. What a treat! I will always have very happy memories of Boston.
If you missed it the first time around, Ken Burns History of the American Revolution in multiple parts was recently shown on PBS. I strongly recommend you look it up and watch. Very, very well done.
